"Broken Beaks"

"Books to Borrow...Books to Buy" is Kendall Rautzhan's syndicated column about children's books. In the latest one, she recommends Nathaniel Lachenmeyer's picture book Broken Beaks as one to buy. Illustrated by Robert Ingpen, it's the story of a little sparrow, who has troubles because of its malformed beak, and a homeless man who befriends the bird.

Here is an excerpt from Rautzhan's review, which ran in the Barre Montpelier Times Argus :

Masterfully written and tenderly illustrated, this exceptional book conveys important messages on several levels that everyone, young and old, should read time and time again.

I will look for Broken Beaks. In the mean time,  Nathaniel Lachenmeyer was kind enough to send us the URL of the book's web site; click here.
