• The Children's Book Council of Australia announced its 85  "Notable Australian Children's Books" for 2005. In August the CBCA chooses overall winners from a short list, which Kids Lit has posted. Thank you!
• Tipping its cap to baseball season, School Library Journal's book of the week is Hammerin' Hank: The Life of Hank Greenberg, by Yona Zeldis McDonough.
• What's a Blooker? The Guardian knows.
• Jack Prelutsky's "Last Night I Dreamed of Chickens" sits at poets.org, waiting to be read.  (I've linked that one before. I know. But it's poetry month, so...)
• "Reading and Language: About My Second & Third-Grader" at PBS makes interesting reading for parents. (Information on other ages is available, too.)
