Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad! I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday. Here is an essay from my favorite hometown newspaper, the Jackson, Miss., Free Press. It involves a liberal independent newspaper's staff, a few holiday drinks, Lee Greenwood, and a local National Guard battalion. I hope Donna Ladd, the editor of the paper and the author of the column, wins an award for her lovely piece.

Merry Christmas to you!
Thanks for sharing the link to the essay. Loved it. A good way to start the day!
Have a great holiday!

Merry Christmas, Susan!
Thanks for the link to the essay.

Thanks, Franki and Elaine.

Merry Christmas!

And the same to you, Wisteria! One of these days I'll get to stay a bit longer in the old home state. Soon, the family and I go home with many gifts, a couple of fire-ant bites (on me), and some lovely memories. And thoughts of Weight Watchers. (It was the chocolate pie that almost did me in.)

I don't know her, but I think Donna Ladd, whose essay I mentioned, is from your neck of the woods originally.

Happy holidays to you!

And to you, too, Jules! We enjoyed our Southern sojourn. Cheese grits twice in one week--you can't beat that.
