Sherman Alexie YA Author; Levelled Reading; and More...Thataway
April 07, 2007
Betsy Bird at A Fuse # 8 is full of news today, as always. At the Little Brown preview of new books, she picked up some interesting scoop, including the debut of Sherman Alexie as a young adult author and plans for museums in Westchester County, New York, to showcase picture-book art this summer. That's a Chicken Spaghetti field trip for sure. Thanks for the heads up, Betsy.
Another don't-miss article is by Franki Sibberson at the web site Choice Literacy; an elementary-school teacher, Franki writes about "Giving New Readers a Diet of More Than Levelled Books."
What a great article. Am going to share with my staff.

It's excellent, isn't it, Jone? I got some great book ideas for my volunteer work from Franki's piece. P.S., I'm copying your recent article on graphic books for our school's librarians; they're looking to build up the comics/graphic novels section.
