Poetry Friday 7/20
July 20, 2007
My own Poetry Friday entry will be coming later. Meanwhile, check out the early birds who have already posted poems and such. NYC Teacher at Mentor Texts & More is on roundup duty today.
Update. My selection today is a poem for grown-ups, by a writer of children's books: Janice N. Harrington's "Shaking the Grass."
Wow. I really love this one. It makes me sad, and yet, I was happy, blissfully lying in that field as I read it...

Yeah, it's kind of a lonely poem in a way, isn't it? I did like the chicken imagery--Harrington wrote a kids' picture book "The Chicken-Chasing Queen of Lamar Country" which I just reviewed today (Saturday). She's also a storyteller and a librarian. And I think I'm doing well when I write one blog post. Sigh.
