Talkin' Banned Books

PEN American Center salutes Banned Books Week with a podcast; the pediatrician and writer Perri Klass moderates a discussion between Susan Patron (The Higher Power of Lucky) and Robie H. Harris (It's So Amazing!: A Book About Eggs, Sperm, Birth, Babies, and Family), two authors who have seen repeated challenges to their books. Click on the word "podcast" in the first sentence, which takes you to PEN's site.

Thanks to Fran Manushkin, a co-chair of PEN's Children's/Young Adult Book Authors Committee, for the link. PEN American Center "works to advance literature, to defend free expression, and to foster international literary fellowship. The Center has a membership of 3,300 distinguished writers, editors, and translators."
