Sherman Alexie Wins National Book Award

First, click over to the National Book Foundation web site for details. Alexie snagged the Young People's Literature prize, while Denis Johnson, Robert Hass, and Tim Weiner also scored for fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, respectively. (Winners were announced tonight, 11/14.)

I'm so pleased for the fact that now his book will have that special seal on the cover that will encourage others to pick it up -- people who have no idea who he is and wouldn't otherwise read his brilliant work. YAY!
