Overheard in the First Grade

Oscar: When I grow up, I'm going to be a police.
Me: I could see you doing that. You'd be brave. You'd stop crimes.
Oscar: I'm going to drink coffee!

Bwa-ahahahaha!
Should we tell him he'll get to drink coffee when he's a high school student trying to stay awake?
Naah.

Hopefully he'll drink the coffee before or after stopping crimes, not instead of...

Oscar has completely won my heart today.

TadMack, Mary Lee, and Kelly, isn't he the greatest? Drinking coffee is the best. Oscar knows!

Susan,
That's just TOO funny. Having been an elementary teacher for more than thirty years, I heard lots of funny comments made by young children. I can still recall some of them. I really wish I had recorded them all in a notebook!

Elaine, I get such a kick out of these kids. I had said that we should pack up our books and go back into the classroom (we read in the hallway), and one little girl said, "Can we just sit here and talk about what we're going to be when we grow up?" Of course I said, "Sure." That's when Oscar chimed in.
