Santa Fe Indian School Poets
June 17, 2008
I'm not even going to wait until Poetry Friday to post a link to "Young American Indians Find Their Voice in Poetry" in the New York Times. Also worth checking out is the correlating reader commentary in answer to the question "What poem has made a difference in your life?"
The Slam final those poets are going to is in D.C., near me! I just looked up the dates and how to get free tickets: http://www.youthspeaks.org/BNVFESTIVAL.html
Thank you!

Wow. I wish I could hear them! I got goosebumps from some of the lines the journalist quoted. Good slam poets are so powerful when they perform.

Cuileanne, I haven't had a chance to watch the videos yet, but I'm going to. Thanks for the reminder. Glad you liked the piece.
Sure thing, Jules. A front-page article on poetry in the Times...Nice.
